Warner offers a variety of educational opportunities. The primary focus is the church school hour on Sunday morning, with classes from nursery through adult. These are organized by our Christian Education Commission. For children, there are classes designed for each developmental level. For 6th-to-12th graders, youth classes meet to discuss the Bible, current issues and preparation for church membership. Choir programs for children also are offered on Sunday mornings. Vacation Church School is offered each summer. For adults, three classes meet Sunday morning; Women's Circle Groups meet during the week; and the pastor conducts a Bible Study one morning of the week. A Men's Breakfast and Bible Study is held weekly. For more than 30 years Warner has sponsored the Learning Center for Young Children, a pre-school program for 2 to 4 year olds. Further information is available through Karen Murphy the Director of the Center (301) 949-2933. Warner maintains a library of reference books, current literature and tapes which may be checked out. |

Among the visible measures of Warner are its many outreach programs supported by the Commission to the Community, the Deacons and Presbyterian Women. Within the church, children gather at the Learning Center for Young Children and the Baby Sitting Co-op, and adults meet for mutual support in the Recovery fellowship. Members of the congregation support the Presbyterian Home with their efforts and contributions. Warner gives financial support to the Montgomery County Community Ministry. Through the Two-Cents-a-Meal and Deacon's Fund offerings, Groceries for Manna and the Coupon Collection program we help several programs that feed the hungry. During the winter we cook and serve meals at the Rainbow Place women's shelter in Rockville. Boys' and Girls' Homes of Maryland and Threshold Inc. are other projects we support. The Commission to Community focuses attention on global mission as well. We help support a mission worker in Guatemala and send financial aid to project Hope Unlimited (Brazil), the Medical Benevolence Foundation, and mission workers in Nicaragua and Colombia. We belong to Amnesty International and contribute to Habitat for Humanity. In all our mission outreach, we give "hands-on" opportunity to share a living faith, and to abide by James' words " . . . that faith without works is dead." |

Presbyterian Women of Warner Church enjoy numerous opportunities for learning and service. Three Circles meet on a regular basis for fellowship, Bible Study and dissemination of information from its Board, Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery, and from Church Women United. Please see the Warner MEMO for time and place of meetings. Circles of Presbyterian Women support many on-going projects involving Circle Manor Nursing Home. Luncheons and receptions are hosted by the Circles throughout the year. |

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is observed the first Sunday of every month as well as on Holy Thursday and Christmas Eve. Additionally, Communion is offered every Sunday during our early service, and at our Service of Wholeness on the second Sunday of each month. Communion is taken to the housebound the first Sunday of the month and at other times on request. All persons who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are invited to receive this sacrament. The Sacrament of Baptism is scheduled upon request for worship services. As a Presbyterian church, the Sacrament of Baptism is available to both infants and adults. Ordinarily in the case of infant baptism, at least one parent is a church member. |

Adult membership in the Warner congregation is possible by affirmation of faith, transfer of membership or reaffirming your original statement of faith. The Session, the ruling body, meets on the third Sunday of the month to receive new members. After meeting with the Session new members are publicly received at an 11 a.m. worship service. Inquirer classes are held in October and February to acquaint new members and inquirers with our congregation and our denomination. Youth are invited to participate in a series of classes held on Sunday mornings following Easter. These classes review Church beliefs and include field trips and a retreat. Adults and youth interested in membership may contact Dr. Kirby Lawrence Hill or the church office at (301) 949-2900. A Youth Inquirers Class is held on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. starting the Sunday after Easter. |
