Learning Center for Young Children

A Play Based, Co-Operative Pre-School for Children 18 months - 4 years

In September 2010, the Learning Center for Young Children (LCYC) celebrated 50 years of serving the Kensington area community with a parent participation preschool.  Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church opened the Warner Christian Day School in 1959 as an outreach ministry to young families in the community.  The name was changed to the Learning Center for Young Children in the early 1980's.  Today, LCYC continues to provide parent and preschool education to families with young children.  In addition to preparing children and parents for school and life, many lifelong friendships are formed at LCYC.

LCYC children come from a variety of ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds.  In the households of many students, languages in addition to English are spoken.  LCYC family members and nannies come from France, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Central America, and Canada.

There are currently a few openings still available for the 2014-2015 school year.  Please contact the LCYC director, Karen Murphy, via email or at 301-949-2933. She will be happy to answer any of your questions and arrange a tour.
