Rev. Leslianne Adkins Braunstein -

Rev. Leslianne Adkins Braunstein

We are pleased to welcome Rev. Leslianne Adkins Braunstein as our new interim pastor. She has extensive experience, having served in interim ministries at Fairlington, Bush Hill, Western, and Hope Presbyterian churches. She is also experienced in providing pastoral care, having served as Associate Pastor for Congregational Care at Potomac Presbyterian, and as chaplain at Goodwin House in Alexandria.

A native of New York City, Leslianne felt called to ministry following a 15-year career as a law office administrator for firms in New York and California. In describing the ministry setting to which she believes God is calling her, Rev. Braunstein writes: “I wish to serve in ministry with a congregation that is mindful that we live every day in the school of Christ; that recognizes our spiritual life is a journey rather than a destination; that knows its vision and mission are God’s gifts, deeply rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Leslianne lives with her husband Richard Braunstein, a retired attorney, in Washington, DC. They have three children and six grandchildren. She is a proud member of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe (Eastern Division) in Providence Forge, VA, one of the seven Virginia tribes that recently received Federal recognition.

Dave Grace - Director, Christian Education

Dave Grace

Director, Christian Education

Dave Grace became Warner Memorial's Director of Christian Education in September 2017. Eager to teach our common call to love the Lord and our neighbors in creation, Dave's particular sense of call is well located in this Earth Care Congregation.

Dave's undergraduate study in Environmental Studies and Religious Studies at Warren Wilson College ('08-'12) – a PC(USA) affiliated work college – included janitorial cleaning, landscaping, and two years of work in the campus office of religous life. These formative years affirmed Dave's commitment to Christian Education that attends to our custodial calling within creation.

Dave then joined the staff and membership of Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC, serving three years in its youth ministry and, following, one year as a ministry intern ('15-'16). During the course of this work, Dave began graduate study at Duke University as a dual-masters degree student of Divinity and Environmental Management. Dave served in the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Duke in the final year of this graduate program ('16-'17).

Dave remains an inquirer in the PC(USA) ordination process under care of Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church in New Hope Presbytery.
Rana Oriolo - LCYC Director

Rana Oriolo

LCYC Director

Our new director, Rana Oriolo, comes to LCYC from the Rockville Community Nursery School, where she had over nine years of experience teaching in the 2-year-old, 3-year old and 4-year old programs, and served as assistant director. Rana’s positive attitude, kind disposition, and non-stop energy make it very easy for parents to entrust their most precious possessions to her. Her ability to balance the individual needs of students, along with her understanding of young children’s development in a group, allow her to create a warm, nurturing environment where children learn together and thrive as individuals. Rana is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, with a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development and a Birth-Kindergarten teaching license. She has completed continuing education in preschool administration.

Rana knows the parent cooperative model from both sides, as a teacher and a parent. She grew up in Montgomery County and attended MCPS schools from Pre-K to twelfth grade. She lives in Olney with her husband and three children, ages 9, 6 and 15 months.

Shervonne Johnson

Sunday Morning Preschool/Nursery Aide

My name is Shervonne Johnson. I am from the United States Virgin Islands (St. Croix). I attended Columbia Union College (Washington Adventist University) where I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Administration. I am currently attending Trinity University in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

I am a Preschool Director at the Friendship Children’s Center. I enjoy making a difference in the lives of children as they enter my school environment. I believe that learning is a fun process and not a routine.

During my spare time, I like to travel, go to the movies, go bowling, and enjoy a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks.

My favorite Bible text which has been my rock and foundation is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13
